summer blues

So it has been a long few weeks, clearly you can tell by my lack of blogging. The brother came down and visited me this weekend and we had a great time not doing a whole lot we got the chance to go hiking, make breakfast, wash my car, eat some more, and reminisce about when we were little.
We went to Smith lake(an army land reserve here) and saw turtles, horses, and it was a beautiful 70 degrees to top it all off.

this week I am taking a break from my hectic schedule at work, and protecting myself from inflicting alot of pain on my soldiers and am taking the Army Level 1 combatives class. I got my butt kicked and handed to me on a platter today. But in turn I am beginning to learn how to kick some butt. (oh yeah and I am extremely sore)

In the next few weeks, I am taking Unit Movement Officer classes 2 weeks of boringness. But in between I am doing some traveling and I think it will be amazing.

Below are some things I am loving... Pictures galore

MLK holiday

So this weekend I had a 4 day! It was so nice to relax and catch up on my household chores and see friends without having to rush around. Tomorrow work will pick back and the next 2 months will be madness... I have 3 different classes to go to among changing things at work and trying to maintain a social life...
Anywho some friends and I went to Raleigh this weekend and it was a blast! We went to bars Saturday night and woke up Sunday morning and went on a Segway tour through downtown Raleigh. Now before you laugh. Yes it was history but riding a segway was so fun. My friend and I were the only two who had signed up for the tour so we got some extra riding in a braved the cold.
If you think I look a little scared its becuase I do...it is a weird feeling initially.
Oakwood Cemetary..lots of history very cool
Segwayin down the road

We got to eat breakfast at cafe benelux, they make great waffles and you can pick your topping from syrup to nutella...

In other news I made homemade brownies today...new feat for me and they turned out pretty darn good.
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of cocoa powder (I used dark but you can use unsweetened if you prefer less intense choclate flavor)
1/2 cup butter
2 oz choclate ( I used semi sweet)
2 egg yolks
1 large egg
1/4 tsp salt
-choclate chips or walnuts if you want

1 cup sugar
Steps
1. mix cocoa powder together with flour
2. In a seperate bowl microwave butter and choclate for 45 seconds stirring every 15 sec.
3. Preheat oven to 350
4. Mix sugar, eggs, salt, choclate-butter mixture. Whisk them together.
5. Add egg mixture to flour mixture and stir until just bleneded
6. Add choclate chips or nuts. ( I recommend the chips I didnt add them but they definitley would have improved the yumminess.)
7. Pour batter into an 8x8 pan and cook for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean,
8. Let the brownies cool and enjoy with some vanilla fro-yo, ice cream, or all alone. Either way they are delicious!!!

BUSY BUSY like a bee

Okay , So I completly agree if you think I have fallen off the face of the earth..because I have. I have never been so busy in my entire life and I like it but I am exhausted. New Years eve was a succes! I had so much fun.Richmond is so pretty at night

isnt she adorable

Between my planning training and making things happen i haven't left work before 6:30 any day this week.
I must admit I haven't had a chance to do alot of cooking other than chicken and brown rice.

I haven't even been on pinterest which i have a harsh addiction too. I have however managed to set my smoke alarm off 3 times this week but burn nothing so i think my alarms have a problem.

Hopefully with the 4 day weekend ahead I am going to go to raleigh with some friends and have a ball.
I do however have a banging recipie to share with: I made some fried chicken the other day it was delicious and I made it up all by myself!(with daddy guidance)

Recipie serves 3-4

2 eggs and about 1/4 cup of milk.....mix in a bowl
2 cups of flour
1 tsp rosemary
1 tsp of garlic salt
2 tsp of pepper
2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of paprika
mix it all together in a seperate bowl

take the chicken dip it the egg then the flour

Here comes the secret!!!!

dip it back in the egg mixture then back in the flour!
(trustttt mee)

then drop it in a dutch oven full of hot grease fry until cooked. and Enjoy with some hot sauce, vinegar, and butter all mixed together and heated up. TRUST ME!
